So here is this amazing, most unhealthy, yet yummiest recipe EVER! Its for those of us who grew up eating hotdogs and beans when our mothers didn’t necessarily want to slave over the hot oven all evening! (And really who could blame them) I made this last night because of two reasons… The first being that one of my favorite customers ordered those foot long hotdogs from a local restaurant next door from the bank I work at, and didn’t realize she was getting 40 POUNDS of hotdogs! So naturally she pawned a package off onto yours truly (and who am I to argue) … and secondly this is by far Mikey and my roommate Dave’s favorite casserole that I make. I initially found this recipe about a year or so ago and it has become a huge hit at my home… hopefully it will be in yours as well if you so choose to make it.
2- 16oz Cans Bush’s Country Style Baked Beans
1 Pkg Hotdogs
1 Large Onion; diced
2 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp Butter
1 Pkg Krusteaz Honey Cornbread Mix
Preheat your oven to 350 and prepare a casserole dish either with butter, oil, or my favorite… Pam Cooking Spray! YAY!
Make the cornbread batter according to the packages directions and set aside.
Slice the hotdogs into coins and dice up the onion.
Saute hotdogs over medium heat until browned and remove from pan.
Great, now melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the same skillet and saute onion until soft and translucent.
Remove onions from heat and set aside.
Now that all of our ducks are in a row, time to start assembling the casserole!
Pour both cans of beans into prepared casserole dish…
Stir in the hotdogs…
Followed with onions…
Stir well to incorporate it all!
Next add the Worcestershire Sauce, mustard, and brown sugar…
Again stir well!
Spoon cornbread mixture over the casserole and spread evenly.
Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes or until the casserole is bubbling and cornbread is cooked thoroughly!
Look at that pan full of majestical deliciousness!!!!
